Student Radio Crashes The UniBar!

Recorded September 6, 2010

Student Radio is proud to announce, a live event as part of Radio Adelaide’s Live Music Fest:

Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! have had a heck of a year, releasing their nationally acclaimed debut ‘Sea Priest’ and touring relentlessly alongside Sia, Dappled Cities and Band Of Skulls. Ahead of their co-headling tour with Seabellies in October, they bring their formidable live show to the UniBar.

Put simply, 20th Century Graduates are the toast of the town. Releasing their debut EP to a sold-out Jive in August and winning a $5k prize for being SA’s Heaps Goodest Band, the sweetly infectious seven-piece have made good on the promise that saw them grace the Big Day Out stage and play alongside Spoon, Cloud Control, Leader Cheetah and Miami Horror.

Son of Dad appeared on the Adelaide music scene in 2005, exhibiting their own unique display of what they interpreted as “third-wave ska”… mincing together incriminating sound grabs from interviews with members of reel big fish, and laying them over stolen dub beats. The band since encountered several lawsuits from Reel Big Fish’s label, and decided that creating music more “traditionally” fitting with the ska-reggae-punk label, would be entirely more profitable, legal, and fun.

MICRO SONG MARATHON!

Recorded April 24, 2010

THIS WEDNESDAY, 28th of April, join Walter & Seb as they try to cram as many songs as they possibly can into a one hour show!

And you can help too! By listening and/or suggesting songs we could play below.

RULES:

1. Songs must be no longer than 1 minute and 59 seconds.
2. Try and go for self contained songs, unless it’s say, “Horn Intro” by Modest Mouse. Because that is just cool.
3. Only one song from Side B of Abbey Road.
4. That is all I can think of for now. Go nuts.

So come on, sort your iTunes library by “time” and celebrate short attention spans!

With a few days to go, there’s still time to check out our some of our listeners’ suggestions and make some of your own here on Facebook.

Download: Interview with The Keepsakes

Pinch and a punch for the first HOUR of the month this week, as we rang in April with a spot of on-air identity crises from two zany consumer-minded folks who shall remain nameless. April fooled you!

We also were lucky enough to have Jon Wignall and Jeremy Lake, the rhythm section of The Keepsakes wax lyrical about their new album Crocodile Onesie, puzzling album title, cover and all:

If THAT wasn’t enough, we also played songs, man! Specifically, these ones:

Camera Obscura – Lloyd, I’m Ready To Be Heartbroken
HEALTH – We Are Water
Ride – Here and Now
Jandek – C F
Interview with The Keepsakes
The Keepsakes – Shoelaces
Andrew W.K. – Let’s Go On A Date
The Greasers – Miles & Miles & Miles
Grinderman – No Pussy Blues
Southern Belle – Ride In Style
Carsick Cars – ????? (translation: ‘Their One Employee’, maybe)
Owen Pallett – Lewis Takes Action
The National – Bloodbuzz Ohio

Tune in next week of course, for more fun and happy times. Especially since you don’t have that 9am tute for the next fortnight there’s absolutely no reason for you to miss out. Who needs sleep anyway? Not us!
